a brief hiatus

'A New Life in the Sea' by Michael Lombardi To my blog-readers, followers, and friends –

You have likely noticed the lapse in writing and activity here on ‘a New Life’, though it is not for lack of action. I have been severely inundated with several projects needing direct day to day attention (a good thing), all of which will lend themselves to providing rich content in weeks and months to come.

There is MUCH to look forward to…

We have arrived at a new relationship with the Bahamas Marine EcoCentre located on Little Darby Cay, Exumas, Bahamas. This will be our new hub for exploration diving, with work continuing this July as part of our multi-season effort funded by the National Geographic Society. This year’s project will incorporate our portable inflatable habitat, as profiled on Nat Geo radio here:

Also, in May, I secured financing for, and closed on the purchase of a new facility here in Rhode Island; dubbed the ‘Lombardi Undersea Resource Center’. This facility provides a physical home for my undersea work and a conduit to share resources with others in the region. The facility includes mixed-gas and rebreather support capabilities, a 2000 gallon wet test pool, and other assets of interest. We’re open by appointment only, with a grand opening event coming later this summer. More can be found at http://www.lombardiundersea.com/.

Anyway, stay tuned in, and I’ll keep you updated. Exciting times lie ahead!
