A Will to Live, a Dream to Dive: the Inspirational Quest of Matthew Johnston
From 2004-2007 Ocean Opportunity acted as the fiscal sponsor of Matthew Johnston in his quest to become the world's first ventilator dependent diver, while overcoming challenges faced with the later stages of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This three year initiative was hugely successful, as it reached a global audience, including being featured on NBC's Today Show in January 2007. This presentation includes a lecture and video highlighting the Diving a Dream project.

The Blue Holes of the Bahamas
The Blue Holes of the Bahamas have been the subject of ancient folklore and modern scientific intrigue. This lecture provides a basic overview of the geology and hydrology of Bahamian Blue Hole systems, and highlights our science and survey efforts from 2002 through 2005 that have resulted in numerous new species being discovered from these deep water filled fracture cave systems extending miles beneath the islands of the Bahamas.

Antarctica: Above and Below the Frozen Continent
My participation in the 2002 Antarctic Expedition K-068 represented a 2 month journey both above and below the frozen continent to learn more about global warming and its effects on the marine environment. This lecture offers a walk-through of this expedition, highlights dive operations beneath the frozen ocean, and interactions with some spectacular wildlife.

Exploring the Depths of Innerspace
Since 2000, I have focussed my professional development on developing an efficient means to take science to depths beyond that of conventional scuba. This includes a myriad of activities from technology development to public policy, all while emphasizing the tie between Exploration & Human Health. This lecture offers a perspective on how our deep science efforts will establish a platform to develop our 'Innerspace' program.
